The Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Great Wall of China, and Disneyland Paris were rated poorly by tourists due to overcrowding, high costs, or safety concerns, according to an analysis by the Stasher network.
The UK-based luggage storage company, Stasher, on November 7, released a list of the most popular yet disappointing tourist spots globally. The results are based on an analysis of 101 iconic attractions, compiled from Google reviews, level of interest on TikTok, travel distance, safety index, and accommodation quality.
Below is the list of destinations with the lowest scores (on a 10-point scale).
1. Hollywood Walk of Fame (4.0/10) – USA

Located 38.1 km from Los Angeles International Airport, this thoroughfare honoring entertainment legends was criticized for being dirty and unsafe. Tourists were disappointed that, apart from the star-embedded plaques on the sidewalk, the area lacked distinctive features, while the number of passersby was excessively high. Photo: Lonely Planet.
2. Dead Sea (4.1/10) – Jordan/Israel

Famous for the experience of floating effortlessly on its surface, the Dead Sea ranked second among the lowest-rated destinations. The remote location (66 km from the airport) and a low safety index (3.10) due to regional instability were major drawbacks. Tourists also complained about poor infrastructure and high prices.
3. Grand Bazaar (4.2/10) – Turkey

The ancient, covered market was poorly rated on Google due to overcrowding and price gouging, which caused stress for shoppers instead of allowing them to enjoy the culture.
4. Great Wall of China (4.3/10) – China

This World Wonder came in fourth on the list of low-scoring attractions. The significant distance (over 60 km from the airport) and frequent tourist overcrowding often negatively impacted the visiting experience. However, the quality of accommodation around this area was highly rated (9.3).
5. Victoria Harbour (4.5/10) – Hong Kong

Despite boasting a famous skyline and light show, Victoria Harbour was still rated poorly due to pollution and a lack of engaging amenities. The quality of accommodation here also received the lowest score on the list (6.7).
6. Museum of Death (4.6/10) – USA

This museum is located closest to the airport on the list (25 km) but has a low safety index. High ticket prices and specialized content (displaying human remains) resulted in the venue receiving mixed reviews. Although its Google score reached 4.3/5 thanks to a niche audience, its overall score stopped at 4.8.
7. Stonehenge (4.8/10) – UK

As one of the planet’s most famous prehistoric monuments, many tourists were disappointed by the high ticket prices—ranging from 32 to 35 USD per person. The average score on TikTok was only about 3,440 likes, indicating that the site struggles to attract younger visitors. The millennia-old mystical image often fails to align with the actual visitor experience.
Jacob Wedderburn-Day, founder of Stasher, commented: “Famous does not mean worthwhile. Inconvenient transportation, overcrowding, or a location not meeting expectations are the reasons these destinations lost points.”
Stasher is the world’s first luggage storage-sharing platform, established in 2015 in London, UK. The company connects tourists with a network of local hotels and stores in over 1,000 cities globally for secure luggage storage. Stasher’s ranking is compiled based on data from Google Reviews, TikTok, national safety indexes, and the quality of tourist infrastructure.
Stasher regularly publishes data-driven reports to evaluate tourist attractions, aiming to help visitors avoid “tourist traps” or poor experiences.
