Changi Airport continues to hold the top position. Asia has 6 airports ranking in the top tier of Skytrax’s list of the 20 best airports in the world for 2025.
At the Skytrax World Airport Awards ceremony held in Madrid, Spain on April 9th, Asian airports were “dominant,” occupying 6 of the leading positions in the top 20 best airports in the world for 2025. Singapore’s Changi Airport was honored as the World’s Best Airport for the 13th time. This recognition is due to continuous upgrades that offer travelers numerous entertainment options, transforming it into a genuine tourist destination.
Changi turns “killing time” at the airport into a memorable experience. Travelers can check in their luggage up to 48 hours in advance. They can freely explore the Jewel Changi Airport mall, home to the Rain Vortex, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall at 40 meters, which attracted over 80 million visitors in 2024.
Changi also features a hotel, spa, cinema, museum, art exhibitions, and a dinosaur park. At the Skytrax awards ceremony, Changi also won three additional accolades: Best Airport for Dining, Best Airport Toilets, and Best Airport in Asia. Singapore plans to spend over $2 billion USD in the next six years to upgrade infrastructure and services at Changi.

Ranking second is Hamad International Airport in Qatar, the Middle East’s transit hub. It stands out with its modern design and is likened to an art gallery. Hamad also received the awards for Best Airport Shopping and Best Airport in the Middle East. Asian airports continued to dominate the 3rd to 6th positions: Tokyo Haneda (Japan), Incheon (South Korea), Narita (Japan), and Hong Kong International Airport (China). Tokyo Haneda was also recognized as the World’s Cleanest Airport.
Europe has 9 representatives in the top 20, including Paris Charles de Gaulle (France), Rome Fiumicino (Italy), Munich (Germany), and Zurich (Switzerland). However, London Heathrow, Europe’s busiest airport, did not receive any awards. Only Vancouver in Canada represents the Americas in the top 20, where it is ranked 13th

The Skytrax Awards are a globally prestigious recognition in the aviation industry, conducted annually by the UK-based air transport consultancy Skytrax. The results are based on surveys of the experiences of millions of passengers from over 100 countries, conducted at over 500 airports worldwide over a year.
The evaluation criteria include the quality of customer service, cleanliness, amenities, check-in times, dining, security and immigration processes, shopping experience, and staff.
Considered the “Oscars of the aviation industry,” the Skytrax Awards are seen as the gold standard for comparing and honoring airports and airlines with excellent service quality worldwide. In addition to the recently announced World Airport Awards, Skytrax will announce the World Airline Awards in June each year to honor outstanding airlines.
